DISCOUNT ON PETROL
Many private banks are competing to lure customers for their credit-cards by collaborating government-owned petrol-companies for discounts on petrol while earlier there used to be a surcharge on paying petrol-cost through credit-cards. This is a wrong policy on part of public-sector petrol-companies to provide discounts on petrol at a time when there are regular demands to lower petrol-price. Union government should instruct petrol-companies to abolish all such discounts for privileged ones holding credit-cards, and instead utilise savings for a possible over-all reduction in petrol-prices.
To avoid such unhealthy competition amongst public-sector oil-companies and to achieve many other advantages including huge reduction in overheads, all public-sector oil-companies should be merged into one.
